Sneak Preview | New Double Exposure Portrait

For those of you who don’t follow me on social media, my current work in progress is an incredibly intricate double exposure portrait of my older sister.
I’ve been working on this piece for over 2 months now and it’s very demanding yet rewarding. I’m trying not to rush this piece because it has no deadline and it’s very meaningful to me personally. Doing my best to enjoy the process and get wrapped up in the act of creating

Since this piece features my older sister she kindly agreed to created a title and poem for this painting! I feel so lucky that she was willing to collaborate with me in this way by sharing her own creativity to enhance the piece.

The best part of painting people I know and have personally photographed is that I tend to think about when while I paint. I think about them as an individual and my relationship with them. And for this piece I got to think about my older sister for many many hours as I painter her likeness. I got to remember how much she inspired my imagination when we were kids playing in the yard pretending to be fairies and dinosaurs in our jungle Maui backyard. And I also got to think about how she inspired me to create art and see value in its beauty and meaning.
I hope you enjoyed this short preview of the piece. As per usual, this piece will be first seen by and available to my Collector's List so be sure to sign up using the button below.
