Vulnerability
This piece explores the human ability to let go and be vulnerable with nature and allow it to comfort us and give us energy. The natural world exists with it's own ebb and flow and it can be beneficial for us to observe and learn from it. In this piece I wanted to push towards a more literal representation of a figure with a landscape and see what effect if would have. The figure is much more solid in this representation giving it weight and presence but the colors are still derived from the surrounding environment so it feels incorporated and natural.
Original Piece Size: 24"x36"
Medium: Oil on Panel
The painting was derived from this sketch that I made. I was inspired by the snowy landscape and wanted to add a nude figure to add a sense of intimacy but at the same time vulnerability.
